  • Abstract:
Point processes on locally compact groups form a rich class of probability measure preserving actions. In fact, in an appropriate sense, every such action is a point process. In this talk we will examine point processes as actions and I will discuss their cost, a natural invariant which comes from the study of countable group actions.
No prior knowledge of cost or sophisticated probability theory will be required. Some joint work with Miklós Abért.
