Abstract: Thompson’s group $F$ has many unusual properties. Brown and Geoghegan showed that $F$ is the first known group of type $FP_\infty$ whose cohomology vanishes with coefficients in the group ring $\mathbb{Z}F$. Notably, Thompson’s group $F$ embeds into Neretin’s group, another interesting group that lies in the larger family of tree almost automorphism groups. Building from the work of Sauer and Thurmann, our goal is to show that Neretin's group satisfies a similar cohomological property within the context of totally disconnected locally compact groups.
